PATIENT RESOURCES

Alliance for Patient Access (AfPA) is a national network of physicians whose mission is to ensure and protect patient access to approved medical treatments and therapies.  Their mission is ensuring the highest quality of care for patients, through education on policy issues and advocacy.  Please visit their website to find out the latest information on health policy issues that affect patient access to treatment at www.InsurePatientAccess.org.


Partnership
for Prescription Assistance
helps qualifying patients without prescription drug coverage get the medicines they need for free or reduced cost.  Their website offers a single point of access to more than 475 public and private programs, including more than 180 offered by pharmaceutical companies.

Arthritis Foundation 
This site supports more than 100 types of arthritis and related conditions.  Their mission is to help patients and family members to take control of arthritis by giving them the tools and information needed. A grassroots effort is underway "National E-Advocacy Network - Click for a Cure." Psoriasis Foundation
This foundation believes that well-informed patients are more satisfied with their care.  This site offers health care providers information on research and treatment options, as well as giving patients disease information and resources to manage their symptoms.  
A new Health Insurance Action Center offers helpful information to assist you or your medical care provider to file an appeal for insurance denials, in addition to specific medical policies for over 100 major health plans.

Lupus Foundation (LFA)
This foundations' mission is to provide financial support for research programs, increase public awareness of the impact of lupus and supporting individuals with lupus and their care givers and families.

Fibromyalgia Foundation
This Web site aims to help patients become advocates for themselves, and offers resources to help keep them informed.

American College of Rheumatology
The ACR has information available on their website ranging from vital topics for patients to information about specific programs related to medications available to rheumatic patients.

The Health Insurance Action Center is a tool available to patients and physicians, to help guide them in finding out specific policy information for most insurance carriers throughout the United States.  This resource will help identify insurance restrictions, so that the patient and physician have a better understanding of the best treatment plan available.  Information on how to appeal denial of coverage or file a complaint against a specific insurance carrier is available as well.
